Thought for Today
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

  Weathering the storms of Life

Human life is many a time compared to a journey in the sea. Everyone is trying to cross it in their own little boats. Sea as we know is not a stable place and a calm sea can suddenly turn violent due to storms, endangering the lives of people. Man at one time or the other in his life has to face a rough sea with turbulent wind and waves. May be you are going through one of those storms right now, not knowing what to do or wondering whether you would even make it at all. There is hope for you because you are not alone. The Bible records two events where the disciples of Jesus had to face life’s threatening situations in the sea of Galilee. At one time Jesus was not with them to begin with, and in the other occasion He was sleeping in the boat unaware of the disciples plight. May be you are in the same situation wondering where God is while you are struggling so hard to keep your boat afloat.

Many think about – does God really know my condition? Or does He care at all? These are questions which arise out of an anxious mind, worried and fearful of the circumstances. The environment looks so hostile and there does not seem to be any help around. May be you are a person who had heard of the love of God or experienced that love at some time in life. Now you may be feeling lonely, not experiencing the presence of God or not even sure whether He will come to your rescue or not. There is hope for you. In the incident were Jesus was not with the disciples, He came to them walking on the sea around 3 a.m. God will come to your rescue when you least expect Him and in a way you never think of. The disciples would have given up all hope of anybody coming to there aid so late at night. May be you are struggling like that for a long time all alone. Thinking there is no help going to come at all. Do not give up!

The Bible says God does not sleep or slumber. His eyes are always on His children. He will not let the sea destroy His people. We also note the Jesus came walking on the water. The disciples were afraid of the water thinking it will drown them but actually Jesus walked on the water which they feared. God is master of everything and there is nothing in your life or in this world which is beyond his control. The very thing that is threatening you now, is the very thing Jesus is going to use to glorify His name. The disciples had never seen anybody walking on the water before. The message is very simple – handover the problem you face now – whether it be financial or health related or marital or relationship – give it all to Jesus. He has your problem under His feet and He will surely take you to the other side safely. Trust Him!

The Bible says that what separates us from God is our sin and iniquities. Jesus who is God came down in human form to suffer and die for our sins so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life. Jesus not only died but rose again from the dead. He said that those who believe in Him shall never die. If you do not know Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord; will you pray this prayer and ask Him to come into your life. Your life will never be the same. Dear Jesus, “I realized that I am a sinner and away from God I believe you died for my sins and paid the penalty for my sins. I believe you resurrected from the dead and is alive today. Come into my life, O Lord! Make me your child.”

If you have prayed this prayer with faith in your heart, then you have become born again. You are a child of God and His Holy Spirit in you to guide and lead you throughout your life into eternity. You are blessed.
