Thought for Today
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isa 43:19

"Kasabianka"
THE TRUE OBEDIENCE

Kasabianka, a small boy was the son of a high ranking officer in Navy. He was brought up in military discipline and with tender love. He was very obedient and smart looking. Often he got a chance to travel in warships along with his father. This time also he was traveling in the ship with his father.

Midway in the ocean the ship caught fire at some part of it. Being informed of it, the father took his son to a safe place and told him,
“Don’t move anywhere from this place.” Then he went to the spot
where the fire took place. Suddenly the arso Some of them managed to escape in life boats while others jumped out into the ocean.
Fire also spread into the place where the little Kasabianka was standing. He asked aloud, “Daddy, may I move from this place?”

Many times he asked, but without reply. His father had already died of burning in his endeavour to save others.

As the fire was licking through his body he cried aloud asking, “Daddy, please, may I move from here?”
“Daddy, may I move……” he could not complete.
While the body was blazing to ashes, that boy was obeying his father with exceeding Pain..
This event might be filling your eyes with tears. But another event, even more touching is able to even change your heart. Read carefully the following:
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:6-8)
The heavenly Father sent His son Jesus to this earth and allowed him to die in the cross of calvary. Jesus took this assignment by himself. He lived in this earth as any commoner, as a servant. Jesus is slaughtered to become a sacrifice, or through his death to redeem the world from sin.

“Sin will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name of Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins”
(Mathew 1:21)

Our mistakes, faults and sins were all put upon Jesus. It was so painful that it oozed out through the hairoots as drops of blood.

“We all, like sheep, have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6)

The punishment which is due to us was put upon Jesus to redeem us from the condemnation of death, the wages of sin. Jesus, the sinless one put (bore) it upon himself so obediently.

“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.”
(Isaiah 53:7)

The soldiers whipped him mercilessly. They cut long furrows on the back of Jesus. His skin, flesh and bones were all out of connection.
Jesus with humility obeyed for our sake. On the cross, the hands and legs of Jesus were nailed.

“The next day… look the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29)

Like a lamb bearing the burden of sin of mankind, Jesus went to calvary to be crucified.

“With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last” (Mark 15:37)

Kasabianka, while burning and fluttering to death was obeying his father; only obedience! But then, Jesus in order to save the man from
the clutches of sin and curse, prepared himself to die in the cross with great agony. That is, he died to save you and me.

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9,10,11)

Kasabianka could not be rescued by his father. Before that he had already been burned to death. But the Father in heaven raised His son Jesus from death and gave him all glory.
Can’t you love Jesus who suffered this much agony and accepted the punishment for reconciling us with God, we who departed from God due to sin?
Because of the obedience of Jesus we are relieved of the punishment of sin. “Yet to all who received him, to those
who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (1 John 1:12)

If you are sincerely willing to experience the love of Jesus,
leaving all sinful deeds then pray like this without anybody’s compulsion.
“Jesus, I believe you became obedient to the point of death on the cross, in order to redeem me from my sin. Please forgive my sins. You please dwell in my life from this day onwards. Amen!”

Let God bless you abundantly.
